FAQS
What does your blog name mean?
- Often times in education teachers get set in their own style of teaching. They find out what ways they are good at teaching and they don't differ from that model. However, through the years we have been enlightened and we realize that not all students learn the same way. This is where the title of this blog comes from. One Size Fits NOT All, is to show that we can't just stick to one way of teaching and expect spectacular results from every individual. We have to differentiate if we want high success rates from all of our students.
What is differentiation?
- According
to the World Wide Web (and me) differentiation is: a framework of
philosophy for effective teaching that involves providing different
students with different avenues (often in the same classroom) to
acquiring content; to processing, constructing, or making sense of
ideas; and to developing teaching materials and assessment measures so
that all students within a classroom can learn effectively, regardless
of differences in ability.
Why is differentiation important?
- Get it in your head right now that differentiation is absolutely SO important. Incorporating this into your classroom gives students a range of ways to access curriculum, instruction and assessment. It engages students to interact and participate in the classroom in a richer way. It is based on the assumption that all students differ in their learning styles, strengths, needs and abilities and that classroom activities should be adapted to meet these differences.
